Well I havn't written a journal in a year which is crazy and I see a lot have things have changed in the journal submission process I can't figure out how to use my old css for my journal. so i'm just updating an older entry.
So on saterday August 31 my boyfriend and I went to the Atlanta Dragon Con and I decided to go in costume. I had been preparing to go for 6 months assembleing my costume and going to my local gym to try and get in better shape for it. it's was an experience going in costume in the Georgia heat and humidity. the costume was quite itchy and I had to safety pic the utility belt to the costume to keep it in place but it was a very fun thing to do cosplay. here below are some pictures of me with other cosplayers
It was an amazing day, we started a little late due to some costume malfunctions and car trouble we got there around 8:30am, the line was 4 blocks long there was at least 10x the amount of people there as there was the year before. Pouring sweat we waited in line for about an hour. but there was plenty of cool people to chat with. we got out badges and rushed off to the Parade down mainstreet. it lasts for an hour and a half it was amazing and I snapped near 600 pictures.
after that we headed off to artist alley where I got some very positive critiques on my work.
mark brooks :icondiablo2003: I wasn't able to show him my portfolio but I did give him some gift prints and bought 2 amazing prints for myself he and his wife lisa were very kind, he was at the featured table at the front of the room so you could tell he would be busy all day.
next was the hugely talented Jamie Tyndall :iconjamietyndall: who gave me an amazingly positive critique. he remembered seeing my portfolio from last year and said I had improved dramatically. he said I was ready to try and get a table at heroes con and maybe try to break into the sketch card field. this was worth more to me then I could ever say. I got a beautiful calendar from him and let me take a picture with him.
next was the amazingly talented :iconJenBroomall: she gave me some excellent advice on my work and was very supportive about my work told me I needed to slim down my portfolio and that she saw a real progression in my work.
next was my good friend Rhiannon Owens :iconDangerous-Beauty778: she remembered me very well from last year and said she had seen a lot of improvement in my work, it was awesome talking with her like talking with an old friend. she also let me take a picture with her
next was the legendary Mike Mckone he was very receptive to my work and said I was on a good track and for me to keep at it.
we went to the dealers room after that and waded through the ocean of people there trying to see what was available.
we spent the last hour out front of the hotel waiting to be picked up by my dad and that's where I got some amazing shots with other people in cosplay outfits.
the day was a wonderful adventure i'll never forget, and if you've made it this far through my journal I thank you.
i love tim townsend's studio
